Due to tourism seasons were limited to certain months of the year, reaching its peak, and as the season drew to its end, tourism activities and business suffered from stagnation almost reaching to no activity.

It was very important to pay attention to the development of this activity in order to become in a continuous movement throughout the year tirelessly and tediously which led the tourism authorities in most of the countries paying attention and try to attract the largest number of tourists throughout the religious,  cultural, artistic, exhibitions, trade, conferences as well as the political meetings.

Hence, a new tourism activity called events tourism appeared which is not linked to a specific time in the year, but become active throughout the year, one of the most important festivals in the world is The Academy Awards.

About the Academy Awards

It is also known by the name of the Oscars, which is annually presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Is one of the most prestigious film awards in the United States and is considered by some to be the most important film award in the world.

History

The award-winning Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is an honorary and non-educational academy founded on May 11, 1927 in California. The Academy has thousands of film professionals, including a large voting committee consisting of thousands of actors too, representatives and film professionals. In addition to organizing annual Academy Awards, the Academy organizes annual competitions for students who are not yet graduating from the universities specializing in film arts. The ceremony always take place on 28th  February each year.

Naming

Historians did not agree on the origin of the word “Oscar”, but it is rumored that Academy Secretary Margaret Harek said when she first saw the statue in 1928: “It’s like my uncle Oscar.” Some say the late actress Pete Davis gave the name to her first husband.

The length of the award is 34 cm and weighs 3.85 kg. It is a knight holding a sword and a stands on a film reel. It is made of britainum, a mixture of tin and copper, and painted in the final stage of manufacturing with a layer of gold.

Nominations

In order for the film to be screened at the concert, the film must have been screened in California’s theaters on the previous year from January 1 to December 31. The film must be at least 40 minutes long to compete for the Long Film Award or it will be classified as a short film. The size of the film in which the film was shot is either 35mm or 70mm. Nominations are usually issued early in February of each year, and these nominations are issued for the year’s awards.

The Festival/The Event

The Oscars are usually held annually in March or February at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California. The event is a highly publicized event with many big companies trying to use the night of the ceremony to promote their clothing and adornments. Sometimes the ceremony is used to express controversial political views by the Oscars. Such as actor Marlon Brando’s refusal to win the Best Actor Award because of the US government’s attitude toward the Indians and also during the 2003 awards ceremony when he denounced many of the winners of the war in Iraq, especially director Michael Moore, who won the Best Documentary
